Interesting Facts About Me

After 9-1/2 years and 66,500 miles I sold my beautiful 1998 Honda Shadow ACE Tourer, but I still own a 2002 Honda Nighthawk 750 which with the appropriate accessories has turned into a great sport-tourer. I average 10,000 motorcycle miles per year and love to take road trips on my bike. I've been on approximately 54 overnight motorcycle trips totalling 46,000 miles including that first long weekend trip of 900 miles on my CB175 back in 1974, a five week trip covering 3000 miles with my CB360T in 1976, fourteen trips from 1976-78 across the Everglades to visit my grandparents when they lived in Naples, FL in the 1970's and a lot of trips to rallies including Bike Weeks in Daytona (1977, 1978 & 2003) and Myrtle Beach (2006-08), the Honda Hoot (6 times), Americade (3 times), Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio Race Track (once), the Honda Homecoming (twice) and ACE Tourer Forum Rallies (the last seven years).

I have a Mechanical Engineering degree from Virginia Tech (1976) and currently work for the largest manufacturer of industrial motors in North America. In the past I have worked in jet engine design, analysis and testing, on heating/air conditioning design for commercial buildings, and for other companies developing or producing electric motors/generators. During my career I have gotten to opportunity to work on other interesting projects such as for doing stress and thermal analysis on nuclear reactor control rods, and on the development of drivetrains for hybrid electric vehicles. I currently hold 11 U.S. patents.

My Hobbies

motorcycling, bicycling, roller blading, golfing, reading, travelling (visited 47 of 50 States so far & been to Europe 3 times), and especially walking with the wife and dog daily in the neighborhood and in local or non-local city/state/national parks on the weekends
